Complete walkthroughs for every dungeon, quest, and world boss encounter
Main Story Questline
The main story of Where Winds Meet follows your character's journey through a war-torn China during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. The narrative spans eight chapters, each set in a distinct region with its own political tensions, martial arts schools, and ancient mysteries to uncover.
Chapter 1 (The Wandering Swordsman) serves as the tutorial and introduction, establishing your character's background and basic combat skills. Chapter 2 (The Burning Village) introduces the game's central conflict and your first real boss encounters. By Chapter 3 (The Hidden Temple), you will have chosen a class and begun developing your unique combat style.
The mid-game chapters (4-6) are where the story truly shines, introducing complex political intrigue, moral choices that affect later story beats, and some of the most memorable boss fights in the game. Chapter 5 (The Jianghu Trials) is a particular highlight, featuring a multi-stage tournament that tests everything you have learned.
The final chapters (7-8) bring the narrative to a climactic conclusion with massive set-piece battles, revelations about the world's lore, and a final confrontation that changes based on your choices throughout the game. The story takes approximately 40-60 hours to complete on a first playthrough.
Side Quests & Activities
Where Winds Meet features hundreds of side quests ranging from simple delivery tasks to multi-stage storylines with their own unique rewards. Side quests are marked on your map with different indicators: yellow for standard quests, blue for repeatable daily quests, and purple for rare hidden quests with exceptional rewards.
Hidden quests are not marked on the map and are discovered through environmental cues, NPC dialogue hints, or reaching specific locations at certain times of day. These hidden quests often reward unique equipment, exclusive cosmetic items, and lore entries that expand the game's backstory.
The Bounty Board in each major town offers repeatable combat quests targeting specific enemy types or named elite enemies. Bounties refresh daily and are an excellent source of experience, gold, and crafting materials. Higher-tier bounties require a group but offer proportionally better rewards.
Exploration activities include discovering scenic viewpoints (which unlock fast travel points), finding hidden treasure chests, completing platforming challenges, and uncovering ancient inscriptions that grant permanent stat bonuses. Completing all activities in a region earns a completion reward and unlocks that region's mastery bonus.
Dungeon Encounters
Dungeons in Where Winds Meet are instanced combat challenges designed for groups of 2-4 players. Each dungeon features a series of trash mob encounters, mini-bosses, and a final boss with unique mechanics. Dungeons are the primary source of Rare and Epic equipment, crafting materials, and upgrade components.
Standard dungeons become available at level 15 and can be accessed through the Dungeon Finder or by physically traveling to the dungeon entrance. Each dungeon has three difficulty levels: Normal (story mode), Hard (requires coordination), and Nightmare (endgame challenge with unique mechanics).
Notable early dungeons include the Forgotten Crypt (levels 15-20), which introduces group mechanics and boss phases, and the Crimson Pagoda (levels 25-30), a multi-floor tower challenge with increasing difficulty. The Shadow Sanctum (levels 35-40) is considered the first real challenge, requiring precise coordination and class synergy.
Endgame dungeons like the Heavenly Palace and the Demon King's Domain are the pinnacle of PvE content. These dungeons feature complex boss mechanics, require optimized gear, and demand flawless execution from all party members. Completing them on Nightmare difficulty is required for the best Legendary equipment.
World Bosses
World bosses are powerful enemies that spawn in the open world on a fixed schedule. These encounters are designed for large groups of players and feature multi-phase fights with mechanics that require coordination across the entire raid. World boss spawns are announced server-wide and typically draw 20-50 players.
Each world boss has unique mechanics, phase transitions, and enrage timers. The Jade Dragon of the Eastern Peaks is the most accessible world boss, serving as an introduction to large-scale encounters. The Ghost General of the Northern Wastes is significantly harder, requiring dedicated tanks, healers, and coordinated damage rotations.
World boss rewards are distributed based on contribution. Players who deal more damage, heal more, or tank more hits receive better reward chests. However, all participants receive a minimum reward, ensuring that even lower-level players benefit from joining these encounters.
The respawn timer for world bosses ranges from 4 to 12 hours depending on the boss. Coordinating with your sect or a dedicated raid group is the best way to ensure you participate in these encounters. Many sects schedule regular world boss hunting sessions.
